With the smashing of a “champagne” bottle on the hull, I’m off! The AFE (Awesomest Fort Ever) has launched. A couple thousand miles later, I can say the trailer is doing quite well. Continue reading Launch!

Alabama Hills
Moving on from Lake Isabella, we took a very tight and windy road (read, not relaxing when you’re driving a wide rig!) on to “Alabama Hills“, just outside of Lone Pine, CA. Lots more rock scrambling opportunities here too! Joni and I were out just about every day going up and down every rock we could find. 🙂 Continue reading Alabama Hills
Adventures with Friends
It’s been a little while since I’ve posted, and I was trying to post a bit more frequently, but there’s just been too much going on! I’m caravanning with a group of RVers and we’re busy doing stuff, all the time! Continue reading Adventures with Friends
4x4ing, Algodones, and more
The last week has been filled with activity after activity after activity. I really could be blogging daily but I’m generally so tired after the day’s events that I crawl into bed and get as much sleep as I can! Multiple 4-wheel-drive trips, a couple trips to Los Algodones, various pot lucks and shared meals, dance parties, sand dunes, there’s everything here! Continue reading 4x4ing, Algodones, and more
American Girl Mine
Yesterday a good portion of the Xscapers group, myself included, moved to American Girl Mine. Less crowded, better cell signal, and so far it’s another nice spot. Continue reading American Girl Mine
Palm Canyon
These Xscapers know how to have a good time! Yesterday we went on a short hike in Palm Canyon, had a pot luck for supper, had a live band in the evening, and even had a little night-time photography tricks. Continue reading Palm Canyon
Xscapers & Desert Bar
Being an RV’er really has its perks some days. Yesterday I got to take an off-road trip in a Jeep to a Desert Bar near Parker, AZ. The trip was amazing. It’s unbelievable what these basically stock Jeeps can do if you’ve never ridden in them before. Continue reading Xscapers & Desert Bar
Passin’ through
Got back on the road today, heading through Minneapolis for a day or so before heading back down to Texas. Weather has been what most people would call “terrible”, but I’ve been enjoying it. 55°F, cloudy, occasional rain. It’s been comfortable. Continue reading Passin’ through
Death of an alternator
So I’m leaving Coos Bay, on my way to Eugene to check out a local mall and stay the night in their RV-friendly lot. I’m in the middle-of-nowhere, just checked out one of the viewpoint locations, and the battery light comes on the dash. Voltage is dropping, and I’m on a 2-line highway in the Oregon mountains. Continue reading Death of an alternator
A day in the life
Fixed a cabinet hinge, waited out a rainstorm, did some computer work, staying in an overflow parking lot for an old-folks home. Just a day in the life. Continue reading A day in the life
